hoisted one of the broken
hearted double-hung windows
fitted in an expanding
number of years screen
nothing but
silence songbirds inside and
emptiness coffee
a gentle spring
shower crying into the
pillow grass and asphalt
and the scratch of
your words in my ear pen on paper
until another
one of us day is finished
