Spaces Between (Day 604)

Elastic sky, rain-stretched
clouds drawn groundward, 
air roaring, spaces between 
drops fewer and smaller,   
until we, after only a few yards,   
are soaking wet and shivering,   
no longer running for shelter—   
what would be the point?
