despite all the years hurled at her
she managed to live a good life
sometimes it arrived wrapped
in delicate silver-traced tissue
pure and soft as confectioner’s sugar
and just as sweet but more often
she found life had to be wrenched or
wriggled into place kicking
and screaming or now and then
laughing until tears glazed her cheeks
