A different kind of day (Day 1080)

Why not a kite in a summer sky
circling and green for miles
beyond   why not a blanket
by a stream   a bottle of white
amid the forest music  why not
instead of this   a different kind
of day  considering where we were
and what we came away with
those who did come away
while others waved and kissed
and vanished into promises
saving what was never ours
what we would never have lost
instead  why not ride the wind or
the deep swells of a sapphire sea
where only wheeling seagulls cry
and we need never shed a tear
