From under the eaves, we watch
the streaming rain, tufts of steam
rising from hot pavement, lingering
like ghosts, mingling with the day’s
last breath of chiffon-yellow light.
Billowing dusk descends.
Like memories, fireflies glimmer.
In a blink, a lifetime.
