impatient landscapes 

prepare to wait  

nestling  warm 

amid painted curtains

drifting  glowing 

like wisdom in 

the snow-perfumed wake 

of winter nights 

eclipsing disenchantment  

and soon they will 

sigh and turn toward 

the windows  misted over 

with frozen joy
