Curtains open (Day 748)

Your windows   low and 

wide   curtains open 

to the night   enticing 

the darkness   I tried not to see 

what you made no effort to hide   

but before I could 

turn fully away   

one brief glimpse enlightened me   

now I know what home means

Closing (Day 747)

Today I am closing my door.

It has been wide open 

for far too long.

My house is growing cold 

and   like my mother 

before me   I am losing 

interest in keeping 

the whole world 

warm.
