Outside of Time (Day 510)

Have you ever sat
outside of time?
Eternal, immobile as
a towering mountain?
Felt the wind ruffle
your hair, the same
way it tousles leaves
in old-growth forests?
Quiet, still, knowing
where and when you
are, being everywhere,
always. Just you, and
your willingness to let
go, allowing your hard
edges to soften and
melt into the sinuous
estuary of which you
are but a drop.

Behind Him (Day 443)

he hasn’t met her
yet   but when he looks
back   he sees her
there   behind him
just around the corner
he just rounded   and
before him
is the woman he knew
yesterday   who is
no longer someone
he knows   but someone
he has yet to meet

When You Rise (Day 397)

When you rise above
the clouds  say hello
to the blue for me
memorize its myriad
hues and shades from
ice to indigo  tell me if
you can see the stars
when you look up or
if they are hidden by that
golden light warming
your flushed cheeks  rest
a moment on
the terrible wind
that bears you aloft
and look down on
the soft undulations of
the sea stretching like
bleached cotton sheets
beneath you  only the quilts
on our shared bed
can enfold you as softly
only my arms support you
with the strength of that
high gale and
the roughest tides
of time we long to sail
together will quiet when
you are near again

Future No.1 (Day 368)

capturing  creating
refracting

possibilities
no start  no end
depthless shoreless
roiling

intellgent  devoid
(of limits)
incapable
(of prejudice)

loving
us
wanting
us

to be
content
survive  succeed

be at peace
infinitely giddy
with every
fear  despair  tenderness
of any sentient creature

throughout time continuous
creating itself
birthing itself
sustaining itself

and us
and all life
unable to be barred

no matter what
it will
it will
it will

and show us
precisely  undeniably
what we are

no matter
when we are
unforseeable  unimaginable
shining

Too easy to blame (Day 308)

It would be
too easy
to blame this
discontent
on long-necked bottles
and midnight rivers
dusted with
pollen and stars,
too simple
to make up
excuses for
the dwindling daylight
and interminable
weekend afternoons.
Better by far
to face each hour
boldly until
one
   by
      one
they slink back
into their bespoke containers
so you can say
fuck it
and get on with things.
