Poem #76: Rescue

Rescue

he breathed the 
usual hundred times 
drowning among the 
languid tulips 
lost in a splash
of concerned smiles 
and desperate 
clichés the 
cost of rescue 
a wink and 
a hesitant closeness 
deepening 
into a slippery trust
