Lessons Learned (Poem 133)

I used to think it mattered,
     but it doesn't.
I used to think I needed,
     when I wanted.
I used to trust that people
     really meant it.
I used to think I would,
     but I won't.
I used to think I'd love it,
     but I hate it.
I used to think I couldn't,
     but I can.
I used to think the whole
     world was watching.
I used to think I cared,
     but I don't.
