New (Poem 329)

Tumbling lines
of curvaceous
skyscrapers pushed
this way and that
by black patent
leather reflecting
the sky    bands of
brass and grasses
Norwegian pine and
glass    blue steel
sequins glinting
in the sun    no corners
no cornices no clay
powder maize peach
and mint    cool
liquid Jordan almond
candy poured
sweet and creamy
making every side
the sunny side of the
newly paved streets
