The Sky is Falling (Day 470)

The sky is falling
like plaster
   a fine dust
like rice
   at a wedding
and what we thought
would last   is peeling
and flaking away
and no one else has noticed
it  congealing
   the air
      like a sandstorm
the sky is falling down
   and down  forever
turned out
      to be no more
         than a fairy tale
but Prince Charming
is distracted
playing golf   and arguing about
which Pantone shade
most accurately captures
   the unusual glow
      of the falling heavens
and those
  who know
  who possess power
  enough to save
   the world
are too busy  buying and selling
  sections
    of certain Appalachian caverns
to notice
the sky
    falling
        scattering
sizzling on the sidewalks
      all around us
         right now.
