Autumn, again (Day 650)

Caterpillars inch across a country highway.

Sunshine gilds fields where fat, orange pumpkins lay.

Shadows grow longer, earlier each day.

Late crickets sing a silvery farewell song.

Red rose of a bird swoops low across my lawn.

Summer’s gone; autumn, again; winter, beyond.
