Temperate afternoon delight
of those with dirty hands sticky
with the residue
of love of summer
of rinsing off the last night’s dreams
of peeling paper birch revolving hours
drift dilute redolent of soft pine resin
and sun-baked dust amidst the hums
and clicks
and other comfortable sounds
albescent sky awash with unseen stars
