What I observed
fell together a collage
of book covers toasted marshmallows
snow-covered benches
What I knew
bound and stitched
an album of sparrows crumbling castles
sea caves
paved with pristine sand
and expectation
What I remembered
scattered around me
on the floor incomplete copies notes
of masterpieces scribbled outlines
marking the contours of a life
