Colored lights (Day 1194)

A constant rain dampened
everything that first year.

Only the glow of colored
lights warmed the room.

So, jazz station on the radio,
I danced alone in the dark,

While ice gathered at the base
of warped aluminum windows.

Since then, I learned to leave
the lights up, the radio on.
