Volcano, Moon (Poem 287)

Under the volcano  the moon
twinkles in the blue  deep blue
sky in the sea
and we on our backs looking
up into the volcano   the moon
silvering my ears a tune  notes
fly between us or above the
radio loves profound silence
the curtains  the floors  two
stories to tell and show
old woman below
eyes us whitely  disapproval
knit tight in her buttonhole
frown  we laugh  drowning
in our own story
